KC908 Firmware Downloads and Upgrades

Upgrade Packs Download

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

The V2.2.1 base firmware package is mandatory firmware when upgrading from versions below V2.2.

Do not downgrade if it is not mandatory. Downgrading to the pre-launch software version of the corresponding model may result in hardware burn-in at your own risk. Downgrading from a version below V3.0 to an earlier version must be preceded by restoring the factory settings, otherwise it may result in malfunction due to incompatibility of the old program with the new data.

Downgrade that crosses V2.2.1 must reinstall the V2.2.1 base firmware package when upgrading again.

Fix a new bug that appeared in the previous version: pressing the vocoder menu while in Tetra demodulation mode will crash and restart. The rest is basically unchanged.

Recommended upgrade. Changed part of the communication protocol inside the device to solve the occasional slow refresh and loss of spectrum type after long-term operation of the spectrum function; optimized the control logic of the first local oscillator and optimized the control logic of USB fast charging to reduce the abnormal probability of the fast charging function; optimized the IQ file parsing logic to solve the problem of crashing when the KC908U/V loads certain rate IQ files.

Disable the function of automatically writing logs to TF card to minimize the loss of TF card and system abnormality caused by TF card. Add the functions of exporting logs to TF card and deleting local logs. Users can operate “Export logs” to TF card in “About this machine” interface, and “Empty logs” in “Empty logs” interface. Users can operate “Export Log” to TF card in “About this machine” interface, and “Empty Log” in “About this machine” interface, which only clears the local log but not the log on TF card.

Enhanced vector signal source function: can intercept a section of IQ file for playback to solve the problem of baseband file exceeding the memory capacity; support IQ file exchange I and Q playback; reduce the probability of IQ file loading failure. Improve the stability of the IQ recording function, when recording with a bandwidth of 50kHz or less, for most TF cards, it can record for a long period of time until the memory space runs out. This version is the last version of the R&D phase of this device, from this point on, the software enters the maintenance phase, and no new features will be developed except for special cases.

Optimize the preamplifier control logic in receive mode, i.e., when the preamplifier is turned on, the RF gain is fixed at 40 dB. Switching the preamplifier on and off does not destroy the original automatic or manual gain setting parameters. After turning off the preamplifier, the RF gain is restored to the original setting, avoiding the trouble of having to reset the RF gain after switching the preamplifier on and off. This update also shortens the sound delay of digital demodulation, and fixes the problem of lagging when going back to the receiver from the system setup menu.

April 8, 2021.

Add support for NXDN low-speed mode and dPMR demodulation. dPMR demodulation is unverified, and often fails to restore the sound correctly because dPMR commonly uses non-protocol-recommended vocoders; if you are sure that you can’t restore using a standard AMBE vocoder, please provide us with the IQ file to investigate. NXDN high-speed mode is not supported for the time being, so please record the IQ data.

In addition, the stability of digital demodulation has been optimized.

Please note that if you have not upgraded the base firmware package of V2.2.1, you must upgrade the base firmware first; all subsequent versions rely on the V2.2.1 base firmware package. If you have already upgraded the V2.2.1 base firmware package, you do not need to install the base firmware again, just install the latest upgrade package directly.

If you need to upgrade the firmware from version 2.2.0 onwards, please upgrade this base firmware first. If this base firmware is already installed, there is no need to install it again for subsequent upgrades to higher versions.

Add DMR digital intercom dual time slot (continuous) mode demodulation. Repair the problem that level tone can’t work under digital demodulation; repair the CTCSS squelch and decode function; repair the problem that digital demodulation doesn’t work properly when CTCSS is turned on; adjust part of the interface arrangement to solve the problem that some displays of digital demodulation mode conflict with the original interface elements.

This version mainly improves the amplitude accuracy of the simple signal source at frequencies below 100MHz (source recalibration is required). It also fixes some interactive interface problems and improves the stability of the device.

This version optimizes the LEV TONE function to make the tone more fine and comfortable to indicate the level change. The FUNC interface has been realized when the receiver is working, and the reception and demodulation continue without pause (except for the conflicting secondary setting items). Fixed the abnormality in the modulation of RF signal source.
